THE CHILD’S EYE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT AT CCAH -- JULY GALLERY EXHIBIT 

June 24, 2011 (Carbondale, Colo.) – Building community through art, the Carbondale Council on Arts & Humanities (CCAH), Flying Dog Studio, Creative Spark Studio and Drinker-Durrance Graphics,  presents the “The Child’s Eye, Artistic Expression Through Photography” exhibit opening First Friday, July 1, 6pm at CCAH Center for the Arts, 520 S. “This exhibit is the result of the work of 20 young artists, ages 9 through 18, who have been using their digital cameras for the past 5 months to capture intriguing images and manipulate them on the computer to further dramatize their personal seeing,” said Ro Mead, CCAH executive director.  

The Child’s Eye (TCE) project, conceived by George Stranahan at the Flying Dog Studio, was created in order to enable young artists to explore and develop skills to express themselves using the camera as a starting place rather than the final product.  

The Child’s Eye curriculum was developed around the proposition: when we, at any age, function as the child within us, we can take photographs as a question, not an answer, in innocence rather than judgment.  The resulting works take photography to a different and uniquely fresh creativity, reflecting the possibilities which manipulation can offer. 

“Please join George Stranahan, Sheri Gaynor, Sue Drinker and CCAH on First Friday, July 1 in the R2 Gallery to enjoy this wonderfully fresh look from The Child’s Eye,” said Mead. 

The R2 Galley is named in honor and memory of Ron Robertson, a strong supporter of the arts and preliminary architect for the CCAH studio at the Third Street Center before he died in January 2010.  All art openings and exhibits are free to the public. A Touching Gift

I received a touching gift yesterday from one of my clients, a painted ballet shoe bearing the inscription, "To dance is to LIVE."  

My client could never have know this, but the gift of the ballet slipper was incredibly symbolic, as I feel like I am dancing as fast as I can! Leaping, twirling and spinning to keep up with it all and now I can imagine myself wearing this lovely pink toed slipper as I continue to spring forth into this new wild territory.

Finding my way

So what does a blog and website really say about you? Well, this appears to be the ETERNAL question for this gal at the moment. 

I am attempting to create a "new look," however, I can't figure out what I want to be. I am fickle. Do I want to be Feisty, bookish, arty, playful, modern, bold, soft, sensual or spiritual. The problem is, I think I am all those things inside and I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to portray that in a design...ask my web designer. I am lucky he's a patient man, and can deal with the roller coaster that is ME.

And so, after it all, I am starting again. What I want is to let the images speak for themselves...at least that's what I think right now....
